As you probably may know, the version of java that deliver best results by now (26/09/2013) is version 1.8, which is in beta stage.

Up to the point of setting the java bin in the path, because I personally think that if java lives with the alternative ecosystem to make links to every java program, why should I have to abandon this?? For me it's better to set it up as the same raspbian will do.
